Improving the energy efficiency and sustainability of the University of LAquila

Following the destruction caused by the 2009 earthquake in the region of Abruzzo (Italy), part of the administration University of L’Aquila has moved to a new building  constructed in layers dry conceived by CeP Consulenza and Progretti, a consultancy study and development of projects of Parma in northern Italy.

The construction is characterized by its autonomy energy, low power and excellent efficient, thanks to the application DuPont Tyvek insulating membrane Enercor DuPont Tyvek Universal and Forte. The building is the result of a scientific collaboration between the Universities of Parma and L’Aquila (Italy). The construction of layers in dry (or system structure) developed by Ce P Consulenza and Progretti is an innovative solution construction capable of guarantee inghigh standards for security, speed of construction, insulation thermo-acoustic insulation, energy efficiency, flexibility use and sustainability. The building, with four offices, each of 35.85 meters squared, is situated in two levels and possesses a load-bearing structure made double layer of pine, laminated panels equipped with assembly Dry frameworks supported by metal.

For the roof, the solutions chosen CeP eco-bio-compatible Celenit that combine natural insulation materials thermo reflective breathable membranes. Provided
materials capable Celenitto ensure a comfortable indoor environment high quality as well as a decrease in energy consumption in summer and winter by reducing
the need for heating and air conditioning. Insulating panels with Enercor Celenit installed on the roof locked up85% of radiant heat in summer. Enercor isa reflective
heat resistant membrane water, and at the same time able to evacuate the moisture. Thanks to its metallic surface low-emission, is a solution specially appropriate to
improve the insulation mansard roof. In this innovative construction project, where technological solutions are applied advanced DuPont Tyvek has been used also
to insulate walls with Universal Forte, is a membrane with an additional layer polypropylene filament that increases mechanical durability, even in extreme conditions.

Is vapor permeable and reduced in the best case the risk of condensation, water infiltration and loss Heat and provides a complete barrier against rain, snow and
wind. Other elements that contribute to the effectiveness energy of the offices of the university L’Aquila are the photovoltaic panels and the heat pump. The realization of this new building has made possible by the contribution of CogEsi, a company of temporal association created by two companies of Parma (Italy), Esi Consortium (innovative buildings sustainable) and Co.Ge. Construzioni Generali, and the association of other major industries, including Celenit. Universal Forte, meanwhile, is used to insulate layers of building walls dry. This technology assembled layers sustainable bio-elements for the exterior walls Cargo structures manufactured steel, wood or prefabricated pieces fixing the panels made with layers stratified.
